How do you change the search engine box from automatically loading google.es when I click on Google rather than google.co.uk?
When I open a new tab I have arranged it so that the screen is blank. If I then click on the search box that lists the search engines and select google, google.es - the spanish site - is automatically loaded, not the UK site. I have experienced this problem when google is running under Windows XP, Windows 7, and Ubuntu OS, the last of which I am using for this message.
I have captured a screen print of the detailsand saved them in a separate file. If you could tell me how to attach the file to this page I could let you have a copy. Alternatively can you let me have an e-mail address to which to send it as an attachment.
Regards,

You can't attach a screenshot to the first post that starts a thread, but you can do that in subsequent replies.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

In case you are using a Firefox version from the Ubuntu repositories that is specially branded then you could try the official version.
I have noticed that you are in permanent Private Browsing mode:
- browser.privatebrowsing.autostart: True
Bookmark and use this; Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
In the search box, click the arrow next to the icon. At the bottom of the list, press Manage Search Engines. Move what you want to the top.
