When I try to start Firefox browser a question rise asking if i want Firefox to be my preselected browser. If I say No the programme keep going on (operates ok.) Then what is the reason of the question?

That alert pop-up has a check box to set whether to "Always perform this check", so if you do not want to set Firefox as the default browser then you can remove that tick.

This will set the browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser pref to false on the about:config page.

Sounds like it is asking you if you want Firefox to be your default browser. IOW, the web browser that you want to handle internet URL's (or web links) that are opened by other programs that you have installed.
