Two Different Firefox Download Windows

more options

I am using Version 32.0.3. Reference the attached image. The window on the left I can activate via the down arrow on the browser's toolbar and cliking the text "Show All Downloads". The window on the right appears when I clik on a temporary 'download complete' message display that appears near the sys tray once a download finishes. I would like to know how to manually activate the window on the right (without having to download anything).

Until someone shows me how to attach an image to this question I will try to explain these images. Both display a small Firefox icon in the upper left corner of the window. The one on the left has 'Library' at the top left of the window border and appears as explained above. The one on the right has to title and only displays downloaded content and only appears as explained above.

You may be seeing the about:downloads page that is being used by default if you are in a private browsing mode tab or window.

^ nope - that's not it, no private browsing going on

Then it might be something added by an extension or theme.

^ Please re-read and understand the OP. I do not have 'problem' that requires 'fixing'. I simply want to activate the download box as shown on the right side of the image displayed, nothing more, nothing less.

If you press Ctrl+d in the small window to bookmark it, you can access that page in a new window by holding down the Shift key when clicking that bookmark. But the window probably will be much larger (more like a regular browsing window) because a script or add-on is required to create a specifically sized window.

I think that is why cor-el was pointing you in the direction of a possible extension (or full theme?) you have installed that is generating that window. Maybe it has a feature to show it in other places that you want to see it?

If you think it's a built-in feature, could you capture a screenshot showing the Download Completed message? Maybe that will trigger a memory...

Firefox only has the Downloads folder in the Library and the about:downloads page. If either are not what you mean then only an extension or less likely a theme could create such a standalone Downloads window.

Thank you cor-el and jscher2000 for your replies.

1. How do I activate the so-called 'about: downloads page'?

2. here is the requested d/l complete screen capture :

cor-el - you are correct. The term 'extension' had me confused. I went to the "add-ons" menu and there is a 'Mega' feature installed (with a notification pop-up enabled). However, there is nothing informing me that cliking on the pop-up will cause the downloads window to appear. I suppose I just stumbled across that as a habit due to that's what happens when you clik on the temporary 'Windows Updates are available' notification-area pop-up that appears every now and then.

So, back to the OP. Any ideas on how to manually display/activate that d/l window without having to download?

-thx

That is usually not possible if the extension that adds this window doesn't have such a feature in its Options/Preferences. You can try to contact its author/developer and ask to add such a feature.
