Firefox 31.0 - bookmark a page in a different folder from that webpage (like we use to be able in earlier ver)

more options

There are often instances of needing to save a bookmark in a different folder than the one it's already saved in. Previously we could go to a website and click on "Bookmarks" and "Bookmark This Page" was an option even, though it had already been bookmarked before. Now this option has been removed. WHY?!?! [Come on Mozilla - that's a Microsoft move - thinking you KNOW what I want when you don't.] I haven't been able to figure out a workaround until Mozilla removes this "FEATURE" from the program - which I certainly hope they will in the next release. I see that I am not the first to complain about this ridiculous change. Does anyone know a workaround?

There is a star like button next to the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar to bookmark the current web page and a "Show your bookmarks" button next to it to open the Bookmarks in a drop down menu. Once the page is bookmarked the tooltip of the highlighted star changes to "Edit this bookmark". You can find "Show All Bookmarks" to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) at the bottom of this drop-down list

  • If you bookmark a page then "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu changes to "Edit This Bookmark"

Note that in the current Firefox 32 release you get icons for Back and Forward and Reload and Bookmark this page (*) instead of text labels in the right-click context menu.

Thank you for your response. I upgraded to version 32.0, however, I still don't see how this addresses the issue. I want to be able to "Bookmark This Page" in a folder of my choosing REGARDLESS of the fact that it is already bookmarked somewhere else in the system. Some pages I had bookmarked in 3 different spots which was most convenient depending on what I was working on at the time. I would like to still be able to do that from the webpage WHEN I am currently viewing it. Is there a way to do this? Is Mozilla planning on restoring this? I don't understand the logic for removing this option... :-(

You can only bookmark a page once if you click the star on the location/address bar. If you click the star another time then you can only move the bookmark to another folder.

You need to make a copy of the bookmark in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) or drag the tab or the globe/padlock on the location/address bar to a bookmarks folder in the bookmarks sidebar to get another copy of the same bookmark.

I NEVER use the star and have this problem. I always click on the bookmark tab. I looked in the library and I don't see a way to multiple bookmark as you describe, However, I did drag the padlock to a folder and my page is back in two folders where it belongs. Thanks!

Wait! I was going through my multiple folder pages and some pages don't have a padlock! Now what?
