I tried the website you posted on Firefox 32.0 and found no problems navigating the blog posts from the sidebar. I accessed it using the extensions Adblock Plus, DoNoTrackMe, NoScript and RequestPolicy blocking everything, and then allowing all scripts/disabling filters for each of these until all of them essentially let everything through - in each case the site has worked fine and I was able to access the posts without any issues.

Are there any add-ons used in the two PCs you tested the site on that could affect what content loads? And does the site work on other browsers on these PCs?

Yea, tested on IE, Opera, Chrome & Safari - everything is fine there by the looks of it.

As to Firefox I have tried in 'safe mode' with all the addons disabled and still having the issue.

Really don't know how to target the cause of it.

Both computers I have tried it at home are quite different, one's PC and other laptop for starters... Win7 on both in 64 bit mode but besides that, configurations, addons used etc totally different.

Did you try to click through the posts couple of times?

Usually I can open all of them once, then that stats.g.doubleclick.net starts... :-(

I just tried them again, they worked fine for me. I even opened them in a new tab to check if I could load two of the same postings in the same window and it worked as expected (this is with all of my script/tracker blocking extensions allowing everything).

When you try loading the page a second time does any content load, or do you only see a white page? Have you tried loading another page that uses doubleclick and see if that has trouble loading the same page twice?

You see, that Google Analytics code is loading on every page, but I only see the issue with posts, all the pages open ok.

As to your question - when I try to open a post second time, nothing happens, I just see the post that I am currently on, a 'spinner' goes wild in browser tab and when I mouse over anywhere on the screen I can see the notification about waiting for 'stats.g.doubleclick.net'...

So... it doesn't even go 'blank page', just stay on what I am and 'pretends' to be loading something :-(

And it doesn't 'hang' either - I can scroll up/down, pick pages from top menu, etc.

I'm not sure what could be causing the problem. People have talked about pages hanging due to doubleclick.net but they don't experience exactly the same issue as you. The solutions I had found were on Linux computers disabling IPv6, so maybe you can try that as well. This article might be able to help you:

Another thing could be your antivirus application if you have one, but I don't see why it would let the page load then cause it to hang afterward. Let us know if the link above provides a fix for you, and which section did the trick.

Ok, an Update.

I can confirm the same issue at work as well, where we are using totally different systems, still on Win XP. Exact same behaviour and only happens in Firefox.

My suggestion for you to replicate that would be to NOT use any blocking addons you have listed here. switch off AdBlock, NoScript and everything else and let me know please if you are able to replicate the issue.

Another update - same thing on one of my colleagues ate work laptop, with FRESH Firefox install on Win 8 (he's not using Firefox - asked him to install it).

So it must be either browser issue in this case or Google Analytics script isse here. Much appreciated would be your help in trying to identify it correctly.

We can't rely on visitors using all the ads and scripts blocking addons, hoping that they are using them so our website doesn't look broken.

While I cannot replicate the issue on my default profile, I can confirm that the page hangs when tried on a new install (using Firefox Portable). After playing around with it I noticed that the previously viewed post can load once I clear the cache. Can you try it on yours to confirm that this is true on yours as well? After you get the page to hang, go to:

• Tools > Options > Advanced > Network
• Under Cached Web Content click "Clear Now" (you may need to press it twice so that the text reads "Your web content cache is currently using 0 bytes of disk space"
• Try loading the posts that hang (open them a second time and see if it hangs again after they are stored in cache - from my experience it seems to be yes)

I will bring up the issue and see what the next steps are.

Yes, clearing the cache is solving the issue for a moment indeed. I know it, forgot to mention, sorry. But still even that, as I said, solves it only for the moment, issue is back after viewing post again.

The problem is that not everyone will be trying to clear the cache when they wont be able to view the post. Most likely they will just leave.

I admit that I believe it could be also connected to the caching plugin that is being used on the website. But even if it is, why it's only a problem on Firefox?

I have identified the problem as - a combination of caching plugin + this freaking Google script + Firefox = No Go!

I don't know why, don't know why only in Firefox either, but I just can't leave it hanging like that with hope someone would be able to tell me quick enough what's the 'exact' cause and how to sort it. :-)

So, I got rid of the issue for now by uninstalling caching plugin and that seems to be sorting the issue. Not the best solutions there is, but oh well... while speed is important, functionality is more important.

Probably I'll try different caching plugin and will see how it goes with it.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Can you mark your post as the solution?

Perhaps you may have more luck with that issue by filling out a bug report at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi. Maybe they will know more about why that caching plugin only affects Firefox, or can inform you of an update that will fix the issue in the future.

Since your site no longer uses the plugin, they may need some sort of sample so that they can replicate the issue and figure out where to go from there.
