I can't restore more than three closed windows. After I right click on the Firefox icon on the toolbar at the bottom of my screen and select close all windows, the next time that I restart Firefox, I can only restore three windows, instead of all of them. This happens whether it is set to automatically restore the previous session on startup or I do so manually. I have read that the browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo is set to three by default, but don't see anywhere to change that. This problem has only been since the most recent automatic update of Firefox. I would tell you what version, but I can't even find that. I think it may be 29. I have also read that if you close the windows by clicking on the Firefox icon in the upper left corner of the page and select exit that this problem does not occur, but that option doesn't exist in the current version. I am using Firefox browser on Windows 7 Professional operating system. If you need more information or I am missing something, please let me know. If this is a bug, then please let me know when a fix is expected or provide a link to instructions on how to return to the previous version of Firefox that I was happy with.

Hey, in order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. Then you can change or add browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo and set the value.

Thanks for responding. I followed your instructions, changed the value from the default 3 to 20 and that enabled me to restore the last 20 windows, which is what I asked for, so you solved the immediate problem. However, I found that this also restored some that I had closed and didn't want. What I really wanted was to restore the previous session where I left off, like I used to, not just the last 20 windows, but the option to restore the previous session was grayed out. I found another post that said to create browser.sessionstore.enabled as boolean and set it to true, so I did that, but it didn't help. Then I accidentally stumbled across right clicking on the top of the window and lo and behold there was the menu bar that I was used to. Now I can exit my session by clicking on file, then exit, instead of closing all windows, and then when I re-start Firefox, can click on history, then restore previous session. This is the behavior that I was accustomed to in the previous version. So, now that I found the missing menu, I tried to put everything else that I had changed back to the way it was. I changed the 20 for the windows back to 3 with no problem. However, I was unable to remove the browser.sessionstore.enabled that I created. I couldn't find a way to delete it. I accidentally changed it from boolean to string and couldn't even find a way to change that back. So, figured I would just download a fresh copy of Firefox. It recognized that I already had Firefox installed, so it just did an update and I still have the browser.sessionstore.enabled and it is still string, not boolean. Well, it all seems to work the way I want it to, so guess that is good enough. I sure wish I had just stumbled on right clicking to find the old familiar menu sooner.
