bookmarks file corrup (listed numerous times), and cannot create bookmarks

Bookmarks file is corrupt, it duplicates bookmarks many, many times (10 or more). When I tried deleting the extras it removed all of the information in from all of the bookmarks. ALSO it will not bookmark anything.

Cor-el answered this question quite some time ago, however I was unable to utilize it because I was incapacitated for a long time. If Cor-el could provide this information once again, I will be able to follow the directions. I cannot locate the information which was provided the first time (I should have printed it out). Please, please help..... I cannot bookmark anything and the list of bookmarks is duplicated numerous times (have lost count of the number of "repeats").
