Firefox has tried to make it so that you can't.

You still can but you will have to be very careful. Especially in deleting a bookmark with the bookmark star. You would see at the top that you would be deleting more than one bookmark.

Add or delete these bookmarks at the bookmarks sidebar or through the library list. The methods other than the bookmark star at the location bar would probably all work but you will have to test on your system.

You can make a bookmark unique by adding a fragment-id to an HTML link you can even add just the "#" without an id at the end to make it unique. A fragment-id that does not exist does not normally create a problem you will get to the page, but it is possible that some link checkers may tell you the location does not exist.

If you drag the favicon from the location bar to the the bookmark folder, it will definitely work. If you right-click on the bookmark you can delete just that bookmark.

Though it doesn't cover your question, I would suggest looking at the following and installing some bookmark extensions to help you.

If you make a browser idiot proof only idiots will use it.

You can do a Copy & Paste in the Bookmarks Manager (Shift+Ctrl+B) to create a copy of a bookmark.
You can also drag the website's favicon on the left end of the location bar to a folder into the Bookmarks menu drop down list or to a folder in the Bookmarks side bar (Ctrl+B) or onto the Bookmarks Toolbar.
In the side bar you need to click to the left of the icon to prevent Firefox from opening the bookmark.
