Why have a popup blocker that never blocks a single popup?

Are you sure the popup blocker is turned on? https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Pop-up+blocker
Yes, I'm sure "block pop-up Windows" is checked. With nothing under exceptions. Always has been checked. And popups always popup.
I have the latest version of Firefox as of 5/30/10 and popups appear way too much. I don't have any exceptions listed. The link xxx/Popups_not_blocked no longer works.
Safari is fine (yes, I'm using a mac). We have two macs with the same setting and popups are insane on both.
Samuel The servers for kb.mozillazine.org appear to be down this morning; please try again later.
It's June and my blocker doesn't work in Linux.
I used another pop-up blocker someone recommended for FF and it doesn't work. I went to the link (it's working now) and found seamonkey to download but the fact is that Safari blocks the same popups without downloading any other garbage. I see no reason to continue using FF. It's unfortunate because FF was a great option to IE until later in its life when it was inundated by popups there but now, it's just now what I need for my mac... to leave FF.
