How can I stop the underlining of links in Firefox 153 on a Mac?

I am ready to quit using Firefox after many years if I can't remove the underlining of links. I have not checked the setting to underline links.

Thank you very much, jbr, for your concern and willingness to help. I now believe it was the update of my operating system to macos 26.5 that triggered the change. Most major websites, such as news sites, now have maybe one or two links underlined on a page with many. The main problem for me was the underlining of all links on the homemade pages I had made for my own use, such as my home page. These pages use old-fashioned html without style sheets. I found a work around that solved this problem. It is probably not a Firefox problem, and I can live with it.

Is this something new that started for you just recently?

(Normally sites define this, but if you see a widespread change in that behavior maybe it's an addon or system accessibility setting interfering?)

Yes, it is new. I suspect that it came with the latest update to Firefox, version 153 on MacOS 26.5.

How can we reproduce this issue? What is underlined now and wasn't in 152?

Some, but not all, links in websites are now underlined. All the links are underlined in my homemade home page. Is there something I could insert in it that would stop the underlining?

Joe, we do not know what is affecting your experience, as we can't see what you see and verify that in other (older/newer) browser instances for differences. Could you please share a publicly accessible page that you used to see "ok" and now it's "wrong"?

Or if that is only limited to your custom local html page and nothing else — could you upload it with some bogus content to a code–sharing platform like codepen or jsfiddle, to help understand the markup involved? Thanks. (Please don't forget to attach screen shots to help verify if what you're seeing is what others see too.)

So maybe I'll post an example for comparison. Bugzilla being, well, older, than e.g. Firefox, it has some of the styling of the past still in place… so if you open e.g.: bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?product=Firefox&component=Sidebar — that will list a table of links, most of which will have underline only when you hover over that item, and change color after visiting. But these are examples of links that should not have underlines in default state (and I see them as such on macOS trying v148–v152–v154, no difference) — can you confirm these also appear as you expect on your side, or there are also underlines even in their default state? Thanks.

I've also noticed my browser preference to not underline links is being ignored with 153.0.3. Not sure when this started, but it would have been recent.

You can run mozregression if you suspect a recent change.

Thank you to all who have replied. I found a work-around, and am not seeking more help.
