Trouble setting up tbsync

ThunderbirdUser23987

I'm trying to setup tbsync to use with Google Contacts. I'm running 128.12.0 esr. I've installed tbsync and Google-4-tbsync.

I followed the instructions to create Google credentials, but where do I put them? And the account setup for tbsync asks for a "client secret" - what's that?

Google Contacts can be added without an add-on: click the 3-bar menu icon (upper right), New Account, New Address Book, CardDAV Address Book, enter the gmail address, ... enter the account password in the OAuth window if necessary, ...

Wow! That's great. Thanks. I wish I'd known that sooner.

Note that if you also need to sync Google Contacts 'labels' (mailing lists), that can be done with the Cardbook add-on. But the CardDAV method is sufficient for just contacts.
