Unable to send mail using Tbird, either new or reply, from one computer here. Others work OK.

I am unable to reply or send new emails from one of my computers here. Others work OK. All going in and out through same DSL modem. Checked and all computers have same settings. Using windstream ISP. pop incoming, smtp outgoing. Latest Tbird updates. This occurred only recently. For several weeks now.

I get this error message from Thunderbird: _______________________________________________ Send Message Error X Sending of message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: [R8] Authentication failed, must login. Please check the message recipient "xxx@xxx.net" and try again.

___________________________________________________________________ This will occur with all attempts to email from my account on this computer. Download of incoming emails is set to automatic and they do come in with no problems. I don't remember having a password before and have not been able to find one. No_password is chosen in settings.

I have read through help and setting information but have found no help so far.

I can go to the ISP email app and it will work OK with this computer but I prefer Tbird and have been using it for years problem and complaint free. Also gmail from app in and out OK, not using Tbird.

TB is advising you to check the message recipient - which, I assume, you've done? As the advice is also that you must authenticate your session via a login, it's quite natural to think that a password is needed. Have you checked what passwords you hold in the program? Can you select that password authentication is required?
