I've lost track of my password and now can not log in to change it because you have to log in to edit anything which is a real STUPID way to to operate!

Well, that is a security feature, requiring that an individual know the password prior to being able to change it. Otherwise, anyone could log in and change your password. I suggest contacting your email provider to work through to a solution.
