marionette.enabled is set to "False" but the browser still has the obnoxious orange address bar with the robot head providing the message Browser is under remote control. I did nothing to turn on this feature, and I want it off. Help!

Have you tried restarting Firefox after you changed the marionette.enabled setting?

I replicated the issue on my end and the visual indicators (robot head icon, address bar color, etc) goes away after restarting my browser.
