So fresh windows 10 pro 64bit install ver 1709 Fresh firefox quantum install 59.0.1

Facebook wont load any video when i click on the little sideways triangle to play them.. it just opens a new window in fullscreen, so i click on the sideways triangle again and nothing happens...

also ph wouldnt load any videos. So i had to install adobe flash which i really didnt want to have to do.. when i click on the video a box pops up saying save as and trys to save to actual video instead of playing it..

very strange as i had the same updated version of firefox and windows before i formatted my pc 2 days ago.. but with this clean install of windows and firefox i have these problems...

i really didnt want to install flash i thought we were done with it.. :((

Hi, please see if this is the issue as there appears to be an issue that only affects users who have turned off Cleartype Font rendering within their Windows Settings. So a workaround for the moment would either be to turn Cleartype back on or disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings

Should have waited about 3wks, Windows Spring Creator Update to be released in April.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.1 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla from with in Firefox before posting a question. This helps us help you. I have no info from your system that would help see things that cause issues. Possibly your adblocking software

SAFE MODE

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

TEST""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" is the issue still there ?

It suffices to say 'certain sites with adult content' - contributors don't need to see the actual content (or dignify these posts with a reply).

I'm sure you'll understand.

Umm,ya did not really pay attention but, we do have mixed gender here so please edit as was suggested strongly to do so.

Please go to Add-ons and then find Flash and review the settings for. You should for protection have it Click to play so when you go the site and click on the preview that page opens and should say Adobe Flash wants to run then you click the that then up by the address bar a drop down ill ask you again.

Provided all is working properly.

Firefox Releases up till Firefox 52.0 and later Releases including 59.0.1 only allows the Flash Player Plugin from Adobe to run.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/npapi-plugins

If you have a N or KN edition of Windows, which is possible if you live outside of places like Canada or US then your Windows 10 may not come with media feature packs from Microsoft. The codecs from it is needed in order to fully use the HTML5 players that many sites are using now days in replacing use of Flash. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-video-audio-problems-firefox-windows

You can see what you support as all checks marks should be blue on https://www.youtube.com/html5/

Many of those ahem certain sites, not going to name them since Happy does not want them even named, use a form of HTML5 player instead of a player that makes use of the Flash Plugin. Any of the sites that used Flash may have been using it in a fallback fashion.

You can check the Web Console for error messages.

Because anybody can just copy and paste those names (unclickable links) in the address bar or search bar and access those sites, including minors and adults (of both genders), who find this distasteful, to say the least. That goes for softcore porn, and definately for hardcore porn, as in this case.

Since these sites you object to so much do not necessarily use the same type of player for each HTML5 and Flash based and site layouts and such.

These people looking for help will likely get pretty frustrated or worse if they can only get generic responses at best.

... edited part out....

Sero123, apologies for the thread getting off-topic ... as lets get thread back on topic again.
