I found there is repeating self generation of Firefox folder and firefox.exe at C:\Program Files (x86)\Firefox. The effect can be detected once I see firefox being fresh loaded with startup page of SearchInme.com. I tried to delete the folder but somehow any other days it happens again and again. I have scanned once with Bitdefender Total Security but nothing helps.

I opened firefox from C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox, everything just fine!!

If anyone has effective way to resolve this issue, very much appreciated if you can share with me. Thanks.

This is not a normal folder to have:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Firefox

You can supplement your Bitdefender scans with the scanning/cleaning tools listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

Note that the System Details list shows you have multiple Flash plugins.

  1. Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0
  2. Shockwave Flash 19.0 r0

You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.

You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.

  • (64 bit Windows; 32 bit Firefox) C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\
