Why can't T/B allow customised folder/subfolders to show in Mailstore Home v9.8.2?

Due to the imminent demise of WLM and the very inadequate W10 Mail client, I decided to install T/B. I have set up all of my email accounts using the IMAP option and customised the accounts to include folders and sub-folders to make managing my emails much more convenient, this I found very user friendly and I am impressed with the result. My problem is as follows:- I use MailStore Home v9.8.2? to archive my emails and I have found that during this process when using the T/B option within MSH the emails are in fact imported but the actual folders/sub-folders structure in each account are not showing in the resultant T/B archive's. There is an option in MSH to add accounts/folders/sub-folders to the default T/B option but they appear all greyed out and not selectable. I have contacted MSH support and here are their comments:-

Hello! Sorry to hear you're having issues with MailStore Home, a couple things to check, first, could you please verify that you're running MailStore Home 9.8, and if not, please upgrade to the latest version and try again? Next, in Thunderbird, go to the Menu --> Options --> Account Settings, find the account you want to archive/export messages into and look at Server Settings (or if it's "Local Folders", just look in the Local Folders settings), look for a setting that reads "Message Store Type". Note that it will be grey, you cannot change it, but can you tell me the current setting, does it read "File per folder (mbox)" or "File per message (maildir)"? Finally, let me know if the account is an IMAP account, POP3 account, or Local Folders? If the accounts are IMAP, that is likely the underlying cause. In this case, please archive the IMAP accounts directly, don't attempt to archive IMAP accounts via another mail client as Thunderbird will not necessarily have a full copy of your mailbox on disk and therefore MailStore will not see all messages in the underlying account.

As this is a confusing to me, can you please look into this and help resolve this issue. Thank you David

I would find it hard to do much to expand on or improve on the comments from MailStore. They seem to be unusually well-informed about Thunderbird. And there really is nothing else any third party can do on your behalf.

I don't fully understand what they are saying here: "In this case, please archive the IMAP accounts directly, don't attempt to archive IMAP accounts via another mail client". Does "another mail client" mean MailStore itself? Or might it mean Thunderbird?

So, is this account IMAP or POP? That would seem to be the first major stumbling block.

You're unlikely to be set to use maildir.

Why are you using MailStore? What benefits do you expect to get from it? I'd archive to Local Folders and then backup the entire profile.

Hi Zenos Thank you for your reply, as I have been using MSH for a number of years to archive my emails I have become used to the very user friendly setup and the speed of the search option which makes finding archived emails so easy. Up to now I have been using WLM as my email client and this has worked perfectly well with MSH for my requirements with no problems concerning the account folder structures. I suppose that I am quite surprised that T/B is not able to replicate the same results as WLM when dealing with the folder issue. Thank you for the alternative archive option, I am not sure how to carry this out, but would this method offer a way to search the archives as in MSH? Regards David

Was it POP or IMAP?

Right-click the account. Select Settings. Under Server Settings, what does it say at "Server Type"?
