Over the past couple of weeks I have been receiving occasional notices about a guest user on my laptop. I don't know what this is about. Is someone trying to take over my computer info? It's creepy. Last night I was about to look up something when suddenly everything stopped and there was a question about allowing a guest -- I wish I could remember it all -- I couldn't get back to what I was doing and and it said if I didn't allow all data would be lost. It wasn't clear to me if it meant all my data or the guest user's data. I didn't know what to do so I shut everything down and didn't reopen until today. It was like a freeze in a way because I couldn't shut down Mail, Foxfire, and anything else that was open. When I opened my computer this morning it was like a freeze frame with all the stuff just as it had been before the guest notice came on screen. I wondered if a neighbor had somehow logged into our wi fi.

Do you have Find My Mac on or have you enabled the Mac Guest account?

it is a good option to change the password of your wifi with something more difficult. If you have the default password you MUST change it definitely. A lot of programs can seek and identify the defaults passwords in almost any modem/router.

thank you
