why aren't my emails staying on my server?

before, even if I opened my emails with Thunderbird, the emails stayed on my server. Now after opening my email with Thunderbird they are no longer on my server. I would like for my email to stay on my server until I delete them.

It would help to know if you have a POP or IMAP account. The answer depends on the account type.

From the menu bar select Tools-Account Settings-Server Settings

No menu bar? Press the alt key.

Do you have the box checked to leave the messages on the server?

If you do and they are still being removed you should log into your account at your email providers web mail page and see if there are any message delete options there that are removing them.
