‘how do i get thunderbird to stop asking for log-in credentials to an account that i removed from thunderbird? every time i open thunderbird, a dialog box opens asking for my passord to an old account, that has been removed.

I downloaded Thunderbird and am still getting Outlook emails in the T-bird app? I feel like I'm missing something or doing something wrong. Does this mean I cannot cancel my MS Office 365? I would like to have an additional email on my Thunderbird account. I've tried, but the internet says I have to go to account actions button, but I cannot find such a button in my account settings. Thank you

I used to be able to reorder email accounts using drag and drop but it doesn't work any more. How is it done now?

Another answer said the order was set in prefs.js. If I remember from Windows 95, that was a configuration file? Where will I find it on Windows 11?

The problem has arisen because I have had to change my main Google account. A gamer (I suspect) wrote a bot taking money from my Google Play account. In resolving that, I created another account so I could abandon the other. However Google security saw my behaviour as suspicious. My "appeal" was upheld, but creating the account again on Thunderbird didn't trigger the security popups. The only way I could do that was to force the account manually. That put it after Local Folders, which I usually want open.

When I try to install my account Office 365 for my association's account (XXXX@patapon95.fr) it doesn't word with Thunderbird (I can connect on Outlook on the same account). I can also connect with my personnal acount on xxxx@outlook.fr on Thunderbird.

I had a problem and deleted thunderbird. Now I have reinstalled and cant get to the allow button for account setup. It seems to be way down the page and I cant sroll down to get to it.

I have two outlook mail accounts installed in Thunderbird, with the same parameters (except of course login name and password). Only the mail account installed first, works. The other only shows its inbox but no other folders or message. If I test its connection, the account seems to be properly connected.

Next to the two outlook accounts, I have three gmail accounts installed in my Thunderbird. They work without problems.

What could be the problem with the outlook accounts?

I selected the "To save disk space, do not download:" checkbox while I was traveling with restricted internet. I've deselected the checkbox now, but the downloads are still restricted. Apparently deselecting did not unset a flag in the settings? Does anyone know how to edit the settings for each account to do this manually?

Thunderbird (actual version) is demanding constantly for caldav- and carddav authentications although the two mail accounts are deleted in Thunderbird. How can I get rid of these annoying messages?

FROM POP TO IMAP CHANGED AFTER I CANNOT RECEIVE MASSAGES. The sent mail folders in the webmail and Thunderbird are synchronized. Account password is correct. My iphone is received mail messages.

Tried to setup gmail account manually. Couldn't verify username and/or password. Thunderbird just opened a window with an URL in plain text and did nothing. Hi. I have several email accounts & I would like to temporarily disable one of them in my desktop version of Thunderbird email, so that those emails stop coming in. But I don't want to get rid of it entirely. Is there a way, or can you suggest anything, please? I am running an older version of Thunderbird, 115.18.0esr, as there were some things I didn't like about the newer version. Kind regards, Jo

I have been trying to add my Outlook account for about 30 minutes now. Normally, I would use the beloved legacy account creator, but that doesn't exist anymore.

But no matter what I do, I can't log in to my account. And I am pretty damn sure I got my login correct since I managed to log in to the website and all other devices with it.

And the error message is also seriously amiguous. I just need someone to help me through this..

Dear Thunderbird Team,

I am writing to politely report a critical bug we recently identified during the automated account creation process for a Google Mail (Gmail) account. The bug prevents the Google OAuth2 authentication window from closing and ultimately halts the account setup process.

Environment Context Account Type: IMAP/SMTP (Gmail) Authentification: OAuth2 Description of the Issue When using the Thunderbird Account Setup Wizard to connect a new @gmail.com email address, the wizard automatically pulls configuration data for Google services. However, the configuration pulled for the outgoing server (SMTP) is consistently corrupted.

Specifically, the following variables are written to the prefs.js file:

IMAP Configuration: Generates correctly as imap.gmail.com with authMethod: 10 (OAuth2). SMTP Configuration: Incorrectly generates the hostname as literally ".gmail.com" (missing the "smtp" prefix) and assigns authMethod: 0 (None) instead of 10 (OAuth2). (e.g., user_pref("mail.smtpserver.smtpX.hostname", ".gmail.com");) Symptoms and Behavior OAuth2 Window Hang: Because the SMTP server address is malformed (.gmail.com) and cannot be resolved, when the user successfully authenticates in the Google OAuth2 pop-up and grants all permissions, Thunderbird attempts to finalize the setup against the non-existent SMTP gateway. This silent background failure results in the OAuth2 pop-up window spinning/hanging indefinitely with the message "Waiting for authorization". It never closes. UI Blank Dropdown Bug: If the user forces the wizard closed and attempts to view the new IMAP profile in Account Settings -> Server Settings, the "Authentication Method" dropdown is entirely blank (no text, no selectable options). This occurs because the crashing wizard also fails to inject user_pref("mail.server.serverX.is_gmail", true); into prefs.js. Without the is_gmail flag, the legacy UI is unable to map the internal authMethod: 10 integer to the "OAuth2" string in the dropdown menu. Working Solution / Workaround Used The issue is definitively tied to the automated wizard's database fetch/parsing mechanism. We were able to completely bypass this bug by closing Thunderbird and manually injecting the pristine configuration directly into the core prefs.js file:

Fixing the SMTP hostname to smtp.gmail.com. Setting mail.smtpserver.smtpX.authMethod to 10. Supplying user_pref("mail.server.serverX.is_gmail", true); to fix the UI rendering. Defining proper directory and directory-rel paths for the storeContractID. Upon restarting Thunderbird with the manual internal configuration applied, the OAuth2 pop-up window appeared on the first sync, processed the Google token instantly, and closed successfully without any hangs.

Conclusion Please investigate the ISP auto-configuration database logic that is currently generating .gmail.com as the SMTP hostname. This flaw breaks the entire OAuth2 token routing mechanism and creates a highly confusing infinite loop for everyday users trying to add their Google accounts.
