You can try to add the title and uri parameters manually to an unused browser.contentHandlers.types.* pref

This is used for Yahoo: 

browser.contentHandlers.types.1.title; My Yahoo
browser.contentHandlers.types.1.type; application/vnd.mozilla.maybe.feed
browser.contentHandlers.types.1.uri; http://add.my.yahoo.com/rss?url=%s

Is there anyway to add a new option rather replace an existing option?

Just use one of the other unused types.# if types.1 is already taken or add another with the next number.

Unused entries have this as a title:
