Adding 2nd e-mail account on Thunderbird hangs
I'm able to add an e-mail account but when I go to add a second e-mail account, when it looks up the information, it just hangs with the circle going around.
This is true for two different user accounts on the same computer.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird but it didn't help.
Thunderbird can't be exited without killing from the task manager or shutting down.

The new Account Hub has some bugs - try creating the secong account the old way:
- go to TB menu > Settings > General > Account hub > uncheck 'Create accounts in the new Account Hub'
- go to TB menu > New Account > Email

When adding the 2nd e-mail account, the dialog doesn't ask for the password, unlike for the first account. This seems specific to adding e-mail based on ionos.com. I am able to add a g-mail account ok

I'm surprised the default for new TB installations is to use the experimental new account which in my case, fails miserably.
Latest release of Thunderbird (148.0.1 (64-bit) on Windows 11) but both the new and the old ways to add a second account are failing. In my case trying to add a Fastmail email account. The window that opens to enter credentials for that account simply sticks with spinner, never asks for anything. It's time to fix this problem.

Because the problem that started this discussion has already been marked as solved, few support volunteers will read this discussion now. You may want to start a new discussion with your problem so more people will read about it.
(Remember to use an app-specific password with Fastmail after you get past the spinner.)
Turns out the correct solution for me was completely different. If you are using Thunderbird 115 or later, there may be some additional steps due to added support for OAuth2. Had to tell Thunderbird to allow cookies. You can allow all cookies or specify exceptions for just some email account server addresses. In my case, this solved the problem: Specifically make an exception for Fastmail. In Thunderbird go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Web Content and click Exceptions..., then add https://app.fastmail.com and https://api.fastmail.com as exceptions.
