lost sub folders

In my inbox I have several sub folders, one of them titled "Stuff" and within this folder further sub sections. This has disappeared. Please suggest any ways that I can recover this. Thank you

I presume this is an IMAP account. My suggestion is to log onto the online account. If the folders exist, you will see them there. Then, in thunderbird, check the subscribe pane to ensure you are subscribed to them. Am I missing your issue?
