Since Thunderbird version 102, the shortcut for search and replace witch was suposed to be CTRL + H has been replace for CTRL + U (also the shortcut for underline ), in write message box. This made undeline via shortcut stop working as the search and replace function has some kind of priority over underline.

Acourding to documentation, the correct shortcut for Search an replace should be CTRL + H so this seams to be some kind of bug. also tested in Version 105 and got same error.

Screens showig th shortcut configuration for both funcions atached.

I notice in first image the 'Find' should be 'Ctrl+F' and the 'Find and Replace' should be 'Ctrl+H' These are the settings used in 102* and 115* and I'm testing in a beta 122.0b4 which also is correct.

But you seem to seeing 'Find' is 'Ctrl+P' and the 'Find and Replace' is 'Ctrl+U' - both incorrect.

What language version have you installed ? What version of Thunderbird are you currently using?

Do you have any addon extensions which allow you to alter shortcuts? Such as 'tbkeys-lite' - https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/tbkeys-lite/

Please test Thunderbird in Troubleshoot mode.

  • Help > Troubleshoot mode
  • click on 'Restart' and then select 'Continue in Troubleshoot mode'
  • Now open a new Write message and report on what it says for 'Find' and 'Find and Replace'.

Hi,

currently i have no such extensions enabled in my Thunderbird installation. Also tryed in troubloshoot mode with all extensions disabled and got the same result. I´m using thunderbird with PT-BR (portuguese Brazil) language pack. Seems to be somenthing related with this LP.

Hi,

Both the Find and Find and Replace shortcuts were indeed incorrect in pt-BR localization. I have corrected this and completely revised all the shortcuts. It should be fixed in the next update.

Thanks for letting us know. Please point out any other errors you find. You can also suggest corrections or better translations at https://pontoon.mozilla.org/pt-BR/

PS: Is there any way to apply the fix before the next update?

In order to get this issue brought to the attention of the developers, I asked if someone could check the pt-BR version as I was using en-GB. Someone was able to confirm a problem and a bug report was created by them based on info you supplied via myself.
