Will there ever be a 64 bit version of Thunderbird for Windows?
While there are continuous updates to Thunderbird, none of them gives a 64 bit option for Windows. Linux has 64 bit, so why not a 64 bit Windows version? Windows has been 64 bit since 8.1 and it would be nice if Thunderbird could catch up to modern times.

I understand that they are working on it for later releases. What exactly do you expect to gain from a 64 bit email client?

Hopefully better speed at processing my many emails addresses. Takes from 3-5 minutes minimum to process them now. - MR
Most likely your antivirus software getting in the way. If you start your computer in Safe mode with networking is it any better? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Anti-virus_Software

While I understand this logic, Emails are certainly something I want my antivirus to scan. I use AVG Ultimate. Hopefully the 64 bit version might assist the speed issue, if a 64 bit version ever comes out. TY for your help.
There are unofficial 64-bit builds.

I have seen analyses/predictions that 64-bit might actually be slower.

Cannot easily Debug this program on a 64-bit system. Not easy to find conflicts with other programs etc.
