Did you check the owner of the folder and files and try to take ownership via the properties in the right-click context menu?

have no idea what you are saying. not a puter tech, just basic user. need understandable advice!!!

I'm sure a basic user such as yourself can open up a link and read through it to get the gist of taking ownership.

Or you can just download the TakeOwnership.zip file, extract it, and run the InstallTakeOwnership.reg file to add it to your Registry Editor, then go to your Documents, right click the Photos folder, and click Take Ownership. You should be able to access your photos after doing so. Go to http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/ to download the Ownership zip.
