firefox opens, but does not work

i get the google homepage, but if i try and run search, nothing happens. if i try and do a search using the google bar or the address bar. nothing happens. if i try and directly connect useing a bookmark: the tab will open as "new tab" but will not connect to anything. if i click on any of the icons in "new tab" nothing happens. i try browsing local files. same behavior. all firefox options and setting pages work fine. i have tried doing a clean install (didnt change behavior just got rid of settings) i have tried running antiviruses: they showed no results, and no improvement. i have completly disabled all firewalls even on my router: no change. i want this fixed because i hate chrome and IE. now before it stoped working i had closed the window with multiple tabs open, and a youtube video running, when i tried reopening firefox after it gave me the "installing new updates" then opened and all this started. any suggestions on what else i could do to fix this problem?

I'm having the same issue, I've found a dozen different reports of this over the years and none of the solutions work. I have completely uninstalled firefox, manually deleted all of it's folders in Users and Program Files and reinstalled and it STILL doesn't work. Chrome and IE both work fine. I've disabled my firewall and anti-virus completely and ran malwarebytes anti-malware. This makes absolutely no sense, I can't even access my router page (192.168.0.1) with firefox.
