Hi,

I have three outlook.com email accounts configured. Two accounts open to show all subscribed folders. One account shows the account name only, but no folders.

Activity manager shows: "The current operation on 'Outbox' did not succeed. The mail server for account wasaga72@outlook.com responded: Command Error. 12"

Sometimes all folders show. Sometimes all folders show after a delay.

Tried: 1 deleting all .msf files. 2 removing and re-adding the account

My wife and I both have identical Laptops with the same three outlook.com accounts. Mine using version 148.0.1 (64-bit), hers using 140.8.0 esr (64-bit) both have the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated,

I am 79 years old, have supported Tbird for many years but have spent an inordinate amount of time researching and trying to work out how to change the colour of hyperlinks in outgoing emails. I am on Tbird 140.8 eclipse. Precise instructions would be much appreciated Thank you in advance

I am trying to add a Gmail account to Thunderbird. After clicking Continue from the configuration window, the system shows a 'Waiting for authorisation in login popup' window with a rotating circle, which eventually finishes and the window says 'Authentication error. Unable to log in at server. . . .'. As I understand it, the login popup window should be from Google asking me to confirm that it is OK for Thunderbird to connect to the Gmail server. It looks like that Google popup is being blocked. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get the Google permission popup to appear?

I get a pop up that says “Login to server imap.comcast.net with user name actuary@comcast.net failed.” There are three buttons “Retry”. “Enter New Password” and “Cancel”. None help. Supposedly Xfinity is moving its email op to Yahoo but I want to stay with Thunderbird which I have been using for over ten years. I haven’t received email on my ThinkPad for a week but I do get it on my iPad.

Please help me. I have 2 comcast accounts and 1 gmail account and 1 yahooaccount. I am an old Lady How do I set up each account and does one outgoing server handle all the emails. I have tried everything for hours Yahoo keeps asking me to sign in. I'm trying to setup this Thunderbird app on my android phone and in the setup process it wants me to scan i guess a QR code from my laptop with Thunderbird on it. I don't have Thunderbird on my laptop so I can't continue to set the app up on my phone. I need a work,-around for this. I do however have a Mozilla Firefox account and I logged into that but it didn't seem to make any difference

I get this error ALL THE TIME from TB. Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp-mail.outlook.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again. Copilot says that TB is NOT recognizing my personal Outlook email account as a viable SMTP account. Been on line with Copilot for couple of hours without success. Does anyone at Mozilla have anything to offer me?

The Font list on my Thunderbird email appears to have been completely replaced after I updated my apple macOS to 26.3.1. I have lost familiar fonts like Bookman Old Style and Century Schoolbook but have a very long list of fonts headed Noto. How do I get the original list back?

I'm trying to list future events in the T-bird Calendar without including my numerous daily reminders (mostly when I'm supposed to take my meds). Is there a way to suppress their inclusion? Or is there a way to enter daily events as a separate class that won't show up in the standard future events list? Thank you.

A few weeks ago I started noticing a pop up window was occurring every (approx) 5 minutes in Thunderbird suggesting that I run a compact to save 992MB. I assumed this would stop happening after a few weeks and a few updates from Mozilla, but the problem has remained, so I'm coming here to ask about it.

Context: I'm on Windows 11. I have multiple email accounts that my Thunderbird reaches out to. At least one of the accounts is retired so reaching out to its historical server fails.

Reproducing: For me to reproduce it, I run the compact. Quit Thunderbird. Start Thunderbird. It reports 992MB can be freed. I let it compact. The main inbox disappears and reappears. I wait a few seconds and restart Thunderbird. It again tells me that it can save 992MB by running a compact.

What I've tried: I've tried repair on the inbox folder of the account I'm typically in. That didn't help. I have many other folders across many accounts and not tried to repair any other folders. I've searched the Mozilla help system.

Logs: It seems to me that a compact is probably failing but I don't know where to look for evidence of the failure.

The issue and steps I tried to resolve: On 1 Jan 2026 I switched from Outlook client on my Windows 10 PC to Thunderbird 146.0.1. I did not import any user data from Outlook but started with a clean install of TB for the new year. I use yahoo.com with POP3 as my email provider. Server Settings: Server Name "pop.mail.yahoo.com", port 995, SSL/TLS, OAuth2 Outgoing Server: Server Name "smtp.mail.yahoo.com", port 465, SSL/TLS, OAuth2

it all worked fine and I was very happy with the setup. Then from early to mid-February I was unable to use my computer. When I finally accessed Thunderbird again, it connected to Yahoo and showed that approximately 800 email messages would be downloaded and started downloading them. After downloading about 100 messages, Thunderbird timed out and I haven't been able to get it to work since.

I have removed all messages from the Yahoo inbox and tried to find one or more messages that may be affecting the download. I don't know the best way to determine that.

I use Windows Defender for my antivirus. I don't see anything in Defender that blocks or scans email messages which would prevent downloads, although I could be wrong about that. if this might be the issue, please provide some guidance about how to check Defender.

I have uninstalled and re-installed Thunderbird. In the process I downloaded the setup file for Thunderbird Setup 148.0 and installed that version. It later auto-updated to 148.0.1. Before installation, I removed all external connections from my Yahoo account and completely removed Thunderbird from my PC, including the profile and profile.ini. When I reinstall and switch the account to POP3, Thunderbird captures the App password from Yahoo and connects just fine. But it still times out while attempting the first download of a message. The first several times it timed out, an error message was displayed but now it doesn't show anything. Except no messages are downloaded.

At this point, I don't know what else to try. Since I don't have much experience with Thunderbird, I don't know how to troubleshoot the process (logs to look at, etc.). I don't want to go back to Outlook but I need the email client to work and download messages. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm Using Thunderbird version 148.0.1 (32-bit) on Windows 10 Pro I currently have 2 email accounts in Thunderbird...a Gmail account and a private account linked to my own webpage account. Both these accounts are working very well and I encountered no problems when I originally set them up some time ago....... However.. I am trying to add an additional email account. a Live .co.uk account I enter my Full Name and email address "xxxx@live.co.uk" as requested... I enter my password for this account and in my "Your Login" details ( the characters "xxxx" before the @ in my email address) I then select "Continue"........... Response : "looking up configuration...." Then.... Authentication failed. Please check the username and password...Exchange auth error I know I have entered the correct username and password for this account... and the account works fine on my mobile phone email app. using the same username and password..... No matter how I try, I am unable to set up this existing Live mail account so that I can access it in Thunderbird...... along with my other email accounts in Thunderbird, which are working OK.... Any suggestions as to how to fix this annoying problem, would be really appreciated......... Thank you

Since the latest update to my Thunderbird installation (Windows 11), my previously created Mailing Lists have stopped working after always working well. Thunderbird Release: 140.7.0esr (64-bit)

I now get the message below when I try to send an email using a mailing list address:

• • • Committee <*** Committee members> is not a valid email address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the email. (Name partially starred out for security).

I have been using Thunderbird with two POP3 Hotmail accounts for some time and I am trying to set up a third account with exactly the same configuration. However, both the automatic and the manual configurations failed. The new account receives mail, but the outgoing smtp server config seems to have a problem. Sending messages times out or keeps prompting for a new password.

The Hotmail account has POP3 and IMAP enabled. Thunderbird is set to receive all cookies. I cleared history and cache after every attempt and also temporarily disabled the firewall.

Any suggestions about what the problem could be?

The University of Minnesota makes me change my password for their email IMAP server every year. I use Thunderbird as my email client. I have not had problems in the past, but this time Thunderbird does not connect with the UofM server and I cannot update Thunderbird with my new password. When Thunderbird tries to connect, I get a Google "help" message about clearing my Chrome cache that does nothing. I deleted the old IMAP password in Thunderbird, but that did no good. Is there a way to update my credentials within Thunderbird?

The arrow is tiny and hard for me to see (as well as the vertical bar for selecting text). In other programs it is quite large. I have the LXQt cursor size set to 60. How can I increase the size for TB? How can I make it invert color so as to have good contrast always?

I m using Linux Thunderbird 140.8.0esr Some emails have long unwrapped lines, how can i force a wrap boundary? e.g always wrap at 80 chrs or better yet, wrap to fit the viewing window

When I open emails in my laptop about 1/2 them do not show the content of the message. I can however see the content of all my email messages when I access email via my phone. This has never happened before and has been going on for the past few weeks. Also, in the past week I have not always been able to send out emails from my laptop, I get an error message but not problem sending from my phone.

This started happening about a month ago, without me changing my settings, which are to retain all emails unless manually deleted. Probably relatedly, copies of sent emails are not saved in the Sent folder. This is my account on yahoo.co.uk - all the emails are available when I go to yahoo through my browser, so it is just Thunderbird that is not ertaining them. I automatically accept Thuderbird software updates (now 148.0.1)
