I have successfully added numerous Zoho email addresses for our business into Thunderbird so I can easily toggle back and forth between inboxes, etc., but I have one Zoho email address that I just can't get to add. I created a new App-Specific Password for it in Zoho in case that was the problem, but the new one isn't solving the issue, either. I've attached an image of the screen and the message I'm getting- please let me know where else I can check for whatever might be preventing this add.

I have read what is posted on adding a folder in Thunderbird.

The problem I am experiencing is that when I select the main account and add a folder it keeps placing the folder as a sub folder of the in box not a folder or sub-folder of itself.

I am perplexed.

Thank you for your help!

Hello This is rather weird... to me at least!

I recently noticed while I was replying an email, that when I type numbers they are not visible.

If I send email - sent it to myself, I can see numbers are there!

Only happens on new emails!

I already tried downgrading up to the point I could not downgrade more as - it obviously and annoyingly cannot load emails on a not very old version.

Never mind that - I much preferred version 1115-125 really.

Can anyone help.

I am going insane.

On any other computer with various version all works.

Thank you M

When creating a new email in Thunderbird, the batch replace operation using [Ctrl]+[H] used to show the replacements in the editing window. Now, they don't appear unless I close the [Find and Replace] dialog. Even when I want to check the replacements, they don't show until I close the dialog. This seems like a bug. Is there anything I can do?

Good day,

Friday Oct 31 I noticed Thunderbird downloading several copies (8 to 10) of the same email over and over into a couple account folders. Not the same email into separate folder accounts, rather 8 to 10 duplicates from whomever into the account it was sent to.

After restarting Thunderbird error box stated - "Thunderbird is already running, but not responding. The old Thunderbird process must be closed to open a new window."

After reviewing in Task Manager, no instance was running nor in the background.

I made a copies of these files onto a separate drive:

1) AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles

     and profiles.ini

2) AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles

=

I uninstalled Thunderbird (v 140.4.0) and did a new install, this was v 140.4.0esr

Thunderbird did open with the new install.

However it will only display the Email Account Folders and Not any of the previous emails.

It was looking into the appropriate folder, but not loading the data.

On one account I changed the location to read the profile containing the emails with no change via: Account Settings/Server/Local Settings.

I can tell by the size of the folder in the default profile, it does contain the email data, I just need it to load it.

I don't think uninstalling Thunderbird 140.4.0esr and re-installing v 140.4.0 would make any difference??

Very Interesting - any thoughts to remedy?

Thanks - Drew

I just got a new PC running Windows 11. 64mb RAM, Intel i9 with 24 cores, 2TB M2 SSD for the OS drive. I did a clean install of the latest Thunderbird (144.01). I copied over my profiles from my old PC which was running Windows 10. I've done the profile move many times in the past without issue.

I've had no issues whatsoever with my Comcast mailbox's. They are also setup for POP. In the 3 days or so I've been running this my two gmail mailbox's have gotten corrupted multiple times. The error reported is that Thunderbird cannot write to the mailbox. There is over a terabyte of free space and I've triple checked the permissions (which work fine some of the time). I run Bitdefender and have used their email extension but have completely removed that. Repairing the inbox works for a while but then the error returns.

I noticed there was another thread about connecting to gmail being very slow. Connecting to gmail is definitely slower than connecting to Comcast for me though nowhere near as bad as described in the other thread.

Am open to any suggestions as to what I might try to resolve this. Thanks much.

I have a problem with Thunderbird in Kubuntu 24.04.3. The drag and drop of mails from one folder to another, e.g. from inbox to a sub folder, doesn't always work. If I just start Thunderbird and begin dragging emails it works fine, but if I minimize the Thunderbird window and do some other stuff. Then when I go back in Thunderbird, the drag and drop of mails has disappeared. And the only way I get it back is ending Thunderbird and start it up again.

Since the error appeared that disabled the xPunge plugin (around TB 140), I have been compacting the folders in my 4 Thunderbird mail accounts manually. I wish there was a better way, but unfortunately not at this time. When I select to Empty Trash, I get messages showing quite an extensive dialog. It logs in, syncs, and even checks the folder capability of the server. When I select to Compact Files, I first get a simple message in the lower left corner "Compacting Files." Then I get messages showing each folder being compacted, and how much space was saved. It even shows reloading the last message at the end, even though the message is already there.

Since I now see this detailed dialog, I have noticed that, from time to time, the compacting fails. I get the first message, "Compacting Folders." But then nothing else. I also don't see the email message list go blank for a second when it is compacting the folder I am viewing. If I repeat the compacting folder command, it does the same thing. It appears that TB thinks the folders are already compacted, and takes no action. The only way I have found to get the compacting to work is to wait for more messages to come, delete the ones I don't want, and it will probably work on the next try. It seems to fail perhaps every 10th time or so.

Perhaps this is the same TB base code issue that is affecting xPunge? I do not get any errors, at least that I can recognize. I looked at the console, but I could not discern anything there that might be applicable - but that could be because I don't understand most of the messages there. Is there anything I can do to get around this issue? Thanks.
