I am unable to reply to youtube comments on Firefox (I've checked, and have this same problem on Internet Explorer, but can on Chrome). Help.

Hi guys, I can make youtube comments, but am unable to reply to them (not to others, not to people who reply to my comments, not even to my own comments) on Firefox (or Internet Explorer) but can do so on Chrome. The reply button is there, and I'm able to click it, and when I click it the normal "reply box" appears, but the cursor doesn't appear and I'm not able to type in the reply box. I guess it almost seems as if the reply box isn't loading fully? I'm not sure what the issue is, and can't find help anywhere online. Could it be my cache? I've emptied it recently though (because of other problems I had on youtube, not that that helped).

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I've actually deleted everything, all my cache, cookies, history etc etc etc and that hasn't worked...

Did you try Resetting FireFox? Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

I was going to try that after I got your answer, but was afraid to restart Firefox as I'd lose all my add-ons. Instead, I went through and disabled all my youtube related add-ons, and that seemed to help (was able to reply). I'm not sure which add-on it was, but I think I'm going to go through each of them and try to figure it out. First, I think I'm going to upgrade my operating system...Thank you both so much. I really, really appreciate it.

Looks like SmartVideo was a problem, or part of the problem? Ugh, I love that add-on.
