Can’t Add Yahoo Account to Thunderbird
Hello,
After moving to a new PC and installing the latest version of Thunderbird, I’m unable to add my long-standing Yahoo Mail account which had been working flawlessly in TB for nearly 20 years.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Followed the official Thunderbird and Yahoo help documentation
Tried various community/AI suggestions
Generated and used a Yahoo application password
Thunderbird gets stuck at the “Your full name, email address” step and does not proceed to request a password. It also no longer shows the option to configure the account manually.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and is there a workaround to force manual account setup or bypass this initial block?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Bertrand

Disable account hub in Settings/General, then add the account from ⩸ - New Account - Email, with these settings:
imap.mail.yahoo.com, 993, SSL/TLS, OAuth2, email address
smtp.mail.yahoo.com, 465, SSL/TLS, OAuth2, email address
Accept cookies in TB (not browser) Settings, and enter the account (not app) password in the OAuth window when asked to allow TB access.
Thanks sfhowes. Here’s the solution that worked for me:
Since version 140, TB uses a new Account Hub to create new accounts. This automatic account creation option is enabled by default. It works fine in most cases, but if your account cannot be created, the program freezes (endless spinning wheel).
Go to Settings and uncheck Create accounts from the new Account Hub.
All is good now ;)
