Retrieving emails
Since the update on 14 September - 102.2.2 - the 3 emails I have coming from another server are locked and nothing will come through. I checked the settings and the computer says it is logged into the other email address, but a little key shows in the 3 email addresses I have used for years and which were OK until the update on 14 September.
I have tried checking everything, but I am at a loss to understand why it changed in the first place from the day before. Can anyone please help me??

Menu icon > Tools > Activity Manager Is it blank ? Does it say 'No message to download' for account name and a time ? What does the 'Activity Manager' say ?
When you select an account name in Folder Pane and click on 'Get Messages' - What happens ? Do you get an error message? If yes, what does it say word for word - or better still post an image of error message.
Is Thunderbird in online or offline mode? Look in bottom left of Status Bar for the 'Online/Offline' status icon - hover mouse pointer over it and see what it says. If it says 'You are currently offline' - click on that icon to revert to online. Thunderbird can only access internet if it is in Online mode.
What Anti-Virus product do you use? It is possible the Firewall is confused and thinks the update is a new program and it is blocking it. Exit Thunderbird Access Firewall Thunderbird should be listed as an allowed program. If it is not listed then you need to add Thunderbird to the list and set as allow. If it is listed but settings is block, then change to 'Allow'. If it is listed and set as allow, remove it or set as block and ok it - THEN go back into Firewall and reset as 'Allow. Then Start Thunderbird.
Confirm Thunderbird is set up as an allowed program in the Firewall.

re :the 3 emails I have coming from another server are locked - a little key shows in the 3 email addresses
If you are talking about the mail account name folder in the Folder Pane and there is a 'padlock' on the icon this does not mean it is locked. It means that mail account uses a secure connection to the server. That icon has always been used in Thunderbird to show the mail account uses secure server settings when connecting to server. Perhaps you never really noticed it before or perhaps you have just changed the server settings to use more secure settings.
So that 'padlock' icon has nothing to do with your problem.

What server are you talking about ? Post this info:
- Menu icon > Help > More Troubleshooting information
- Under 'Mail and News Accounts' section
- Copy all the text in that section and then paste it into this forum question.
Thank you so much for your replies. I switched off VPN in Norton and all emails have come back with the new ones as well. I had no idea leaving VPN on always would affect the mail coming from Telstra into Thunderbird.
I will now be looking at all settings and will read everything in all tabs across the top!! I take the easy way mostly.
Thank you again - you have saved my life!!
