Left click does not always open page links
On some sites (e.g. Nottinghampost.com) left click does not open links/ pages. It shows that ti is a link (hand mouse pointer) but will only open with centre click in a new tab. I see that this is a problem that others have had in the past.
I have run Firefox in troubleshooting/ safe mode and problem still happens, so not an extension/ theme issue. I have rebooted the computer and I also always clear cookies/browsing history etc when I exit Firefox, that has not helped. The page links work properly in Chrome. I have also done a virus scan (Panda AV)
I am using current Firefox 91 on Win 10 Pro 64, recently updated but I believe the Firefox issue existed before update.
The issue has existed all this week and possibly longer.
Chosen solution
Just had another thought and did a test.
I had strict tracking protection enabled which appears to have been the cause. It would explain why it was only some sites. Switeched to standard protection and left click works again albeit with more advertising.
Although nottinghampost.com is a 'mainstream' site, my local 'paper' my anti-virus throws up 'parked domains' and 'suspicious content' blocks. It is a site that has always pushed the limits of acceptability with web advertising and tracking, I use it is as litttle as possible as result and why I have tracking protection turned up to a high level.
Seems resolved but it may be a site to go back to avoiding!
