How do I enable google voice hangouts?
Dear Sirs,
I hope I have the right department area, but if not if you can direct me to the correct one. I was trying to call someone on Google Voice and I got a message that I needed to install the Hangout Pluggin. I did and tried to call someone but the window still keeps popping up. I contacted Google Voice help and they said that I would need to contact Mozilla because it probably was disabled and would need to enable it again. Also not sure if this is the reason why I am having this problem, but I just updated Mozilla Firefox. How do I enable this? Thanks

What I suggest is:
(1) Back up your current Firefox profile (settings) folder. You can copy it to external media as is, or compressed (e.g., ZIP file), or use a backup program. See:
- Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data
- Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles
(2) Uninstall 64-bit Firefox
(3) Install 32-bit Firefox from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/ -- it should find your profile folder automatically, but if it doesn't, we can use your backup to recover critical files

Is this the one you installed? https://www.google.com/tools/dlpage/hangoutplugin
Please open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, look for these -- they might be at the bottom on a grayed background:
- Google Talk Plugin
- Google Talk Plugin Video Renderer
If they are set to "Never Activate", change that to "Ask to Activate".
With this setting, when you visit a site that wants to use Google Talk, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and usually (but not always) one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
The plugin notification icon in the address bar typically looks like a small, dark gray Lego block. You can use it to check the status of any plugins the site wants to use on that page, and allow them if appropriate.
Success?
I tried your suggestions and I am still unable to call people. When I went into my add-on tab I didnt really see anything titled Google Talk Plugin or the other. I know I downloaded it. This is part of the address on the page that pops up saying to install Google Hangout Plugin: http://www.google.com/tools/dlpage/hangout?hl=(has lots more in addy bar)
Can you try the green button on this page: https://www.google.com/tools/dlpage/hangoutplugin
I mean blue button!
Modified
Yes I did the blue button and it said it installed it but when I went to the add ons I didn't see any specific title like "Google Talk Plugin" to check for if it is enabled or not.
Could you exit out of Firefox and start it up again to see whether Firefox now detects the plugin?
If that doesn't help, could you check your system to make sure the plugin is in the usual location? I'm assuming based on where mine is... Copy the following shortcut and paste it into the system search box and press Enter to load it. Or if Windows 10 doesn't work that way, try the Run dialog (hold down the Windows key and press and release R to call that up):
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\plugins\
Do you find these files:
- npgoogletalk.dll
- npo1d.dll
Oh wait, stop, you are running the 64-bit version of Firefox. Most plugins are not compatible with that build of Firefox. You'll need to switch to the 32-bit version to use these plugins.
I'm not sure of the best way to do that, but hopefully another volunteer can provide that information.
^Yes only the 64-bit Flash Player and Silverlight Plugins are white listed to run in 64-bit Firefox on Windows (Win64).
Thanks for trying to help. I am looking into that. I hope they get the 64 bit one soon. I use Google Voice for my business since I don't have unlimited on my cell phone. Can be a problem. Thanks again

Thanks you very much. It is fixed and back in business, literally. Have a great week!
