Every time Firefox updates to 3.6.6 I lose the capacity to access the Internet. The start-up page say "Trouble loading page" and I must remove the updated version of Firefox and reinstall the old version?

When Firefox updates to 3.6.6 the start-up page never becomes set. Rather, a pop-up appears that says "problem loading page". all access to Internet through email, etc. is closed until I remove 3.6.6 and reinstall the old version.
