When I try to attach a file to an e-mail by clicking the "Attach" button, Thunderbird crashes. I can attach documents by dragging and dropping. This problem has not occurred with earlier versions of Thunderbird.

I have found two possible solutions in researching this problem: - One has to do with ensuring that my antivirus software is not scanning the outgoing e-mail. I have verified that my anti-virus software does NOT verify any e-mails, outgoing or incoming. - The other suggests that Thunderbird may be looking for a default attachment location that is on a network or in another location that may be unavailable. I am certain that this is not the case, although I do not know how to find out where (if anywhere) Thunderbird may be looking. Please help.

Windows 7 x64 Thunderbird version 102.15.1 (64-bit) Note: I have tried version 115 on my computer, but it is so slow as to be unusable. I have downgraded to version 102 and find that it works very well for me. Therefore I would prefer not to upgrade from this version.

TIA for any help Les

You're in a tough spot with Windows 7. Version 128 fixes many of the slowness issues. But it might not fix the attachment issue.

Version 115 fixes the attachment issue?
