How can I file messages in the new and inferior Thunderbird?
Although I certainly do not keep all emails, I do file a LOT. I have about 200 folders for topics and people. I use the filing feature EVERY SINGLE DAY. Suddenly when I looked at email today, the message filing feature is missing. I have to have this feature.
I am a retired librarian. This may explain my love of with organizing and storing. I suspect I am not the only person horrified to see things missing from Thunderbird today.
My husband and I have used Thunderbird ever since Qualcomm stopped supporting Eudora.
Messages going to JUNK is STILL a problem even today after the downgrade. I know to use Shift-J, but Thunderbird DOES NOT LEARN. This is annoying, but less important than the filing issue.

"message filing feature": I don't know what that is - filters you set up yourself?. Can you explain in detail the steps you used to take to file a message? Presuming you mean moving messages to particular folders.
Ed and everyone else,
I found the missing menu bar!I don't know why it went away during the upgrade, but I finally found it and restored it. I had looked at toolbars once, but failed to try that one.
For Ed, Yes, I file into folders The menu bar has the word Message and when you click that it gives you options. One of them is Move To. I realized tonight that I couldn't even forward an email, so I looked again. The Forward function is also under Message as is Edit Message as New which I also use frequently. Anyhow, thanks Ed for your response.
The filing issue is solved, but the distressing issue of Thunderbird not learning what does NOT go in Junk remains. I have been using Shift-J for months, but Thunderbird does not learn.
Sounds like you are using an addon.

If you haven't been marking a few good messages as not junk every week, try that. If that doesn't help, go to TB menu > Settings > Privacy & Security > Junk and click the 'Reset Training Data' button.
Wayne Mery: I am not using an addon. The filing issue has been resolved.
Ed: Thanks for the suggestions on Junk. I can try tomorrow.

Forgot to give you Thunderbird and Junk / Spam Messages. Also BTW, you can R. click a message and get the same choices as Menu Bar/Message. Less mouse movement :-)
