I want to keep old messages from my current emails but what will happen when TB goes to bring over messages and there are error messages? How do I keep TB from trying to retrieve messages from the server which is no longer there? thanks!

POP or IMAP email? If POP - all your messages should download when you access the server, and save to your computer. If IMAP, you should plan to move all emails from Inbox, Sent, and other folders that are stored on the server to new folders stored locally on your computer.

It is POP so messages will still be there. What I am concerned about is TBird trying and trying to download messages and getting error messages and telling me over and over that it is having a problem. How do I stop TB from trying to get new messages from server?
