Hi,
The Firefox built-in VPN is being introduced gradually. It’s available to some users in the US, UK, Germany, France and in Canada.
If you’re in one of these countries, but still don’t see the built-in VPN, it may simply not have reached you yet. Since this is an experiment, the feature is being rolled out in stages. You can check the about:studies page to see whether you’re part of the holdback study.
The built-in VPN may also be unavailable if Enterprise policies are blocking it. You can check this by going to about:policies in Firefox.
Signing out of your Mozilla account and signing back in may also help. Before signing out, make sure you know your password and that Sync is enabled so you don’t risk losing or overwriting browser data.
Finally, when the built-in VPN is available, you should see a VPN icon in the top-right corner of the toolbar. Selecting it will open a prompt to turn on the VPN. If you don’t see the icon, try customizing your toolbar by right-clicking the toolbar and checking the overflow menu to add it back. For more information, see the Use built-in VPN in Firefox article.
Thank you for your reply.
I was able to use "about:config" to find "browser.ipprotection.enabled and correct the valur to "true".
That provided me with the VPN icon in the toolbar. However, now with the VPN activated I can not connect to any websites. I rec a message saying "can not connect to the VPN"
Any suggestions? Thank you.
Hi
I would not recommend changing about:config settings as it may make things more difficult in the future.
We are planning to make the VPN available to more people in the near future.
Thank you for your reply Paul.
I did change the config on that one line suggested in the help section of Mozilla and afterwards I was able to see the VPN icon in the toolbar. However, with the VPN active, I CAN NOT connect to any websites. I rec an error message saying " can not connect to vpn - retry" which, when clicking "retyr" , produces no results.
When I turn off the VPN I CAN connect to any website I manually enter a URL for or any sites that I have bookmarked.
Any suggestions please? Thank you.
I would recommend not making any changes to about:config and waiting for the VPN to be made fully available.
OK, understood. I can reverse it. I am located in the USA EST. When do you anticipate the VPN will be accessible in my area?
Please advise.
Thank you.
