LDF/MDF attachments makes Thunderbird hang up

When receiving e-mails with attached mdf/ldf files (SQL 2005/2012 databases) and sometimes xml files (more rarely) Thunderbird hangs up when viewing the message and when trying to save attachments.

I am using latest Thunderbird x64 on Windows x64 Pro.

Thunderbird is probably trying to display the attachments inline. Go to the View menu then uncheck the option Display Attachments Inline

Nope, doesn't help.
