Set up 2 accounts on Thunderbird today. Unable to save to Sent on both. I have reviewed other suggested solutions without any success. E-mail provider is BTinternet. Running on Windows 10.

I've been doing a bit more investigating and discovered that I can no longer create new folders under either account either. I did create 2 new folders earlier today. When I now attempt to do so, it seems to work ie. no error message but the new folder doesn't appear. I have created a new folder under 'Local Folders' and can save Sent items to that folder.

Latest update. I did some more fiddling about. After redirecting to 'Local Folders' I have now pointed the Sent items back to the Sent folder for each account and copies are being saved OK. Whether it was a glitch which will reappear, only time will tell. For now it is working OK.

Are your accounts pop or imap?

If Imap: Make sure you have subscribed to see those folders.

  • Right click on imap mail account in Folder Pane and select 'subscribe'

In list:

  • select the 'Sent' folder.
  • click on 'Subscribe'.

Now make sure the account is using that folder

  • Right click on imap mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
  • Select 'Copies & Folders'
  • Select: Place a copy in
  • Select 'Other
  • choose the 'Sent folder on imap mail account
  • click on 'OK'

If you create new folders in an imap mail account you need to make sure are subscribed to see those new folders.
