Hey, so I've had this problem, after installing the most recent Mozilla Firefox, the 57.0 on my Laptop, I've had this problem with the profile, I've looked around for a solution and the only thing I did find was the one with deleting your profile, I did that, but next time I've closed my browser it just happened again. Each time I close it down, it just repeats, it's rather annoying to go to %appdata% each time and remove the profile after each time. I'm running Windows 10 and the problem occured after I started running Firefox on the newest release, the 57.0. Just to make it clear, the browser runs as usual, it's just the fact that I have to fix it each time I close down Firefox.

hi, we are tracking a problem with the same symptoms that would affect users with non-latin characters in their windows usernames. would this apply to you as well?

Yup, it would apply.

I just changed my windows name to something with only latin letters, it didn't solve the problem, would a reinstall do anything?

changing a name after the fact wouldn't work, as the pathname C:\Users\<username>\... that firefox relies on doesn't change. can you see if a portable version of firefox that is placed in a folder on the C:\ drive on your device can be started successfully?: https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

Tried the portable version of firefox, it's the same problem, the profile is missing, sorry for the alte reply.
