Not being able to open website url's in mozilla

Hi, I have been not able to open specific website's urls, for example: If I want to open amazon.com, and if I put the same enter same url and hit enter. it just loads and loads nothing happenes. but when I put something like this :http://www.amazon.in/ref=nav_logo it quickly opens the amazon. It is happening with almost 40% of m websites when I tried to open with there direct url. I checked on safari and chrome to but there, this thing isn't happening. Plz help me out , Thanks !

Is this with many sites, some, a few?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Could be a problem with the search engine and that Firefox tries to search for this these terms.

Make sure that you have a search engine selected.
