XP: Can't upload or download, firefox crashes instead.

Hi there, I get an egg timer cursor indefinitely (I left it for at least half an hour yesterday), whenever I try to "save image as" or download an installer, (for example update an add-on such as Silverlight.) Uploading images to Facebook (as in status updates) result in the same problem.

Task manager has this as not responding. Error is hungapp.

Have reinstalled Firefox, restarted addons, removed extentions in order to figure this out. Other browsers DO allow me to download/upload but both Opera and Chrome (pretty much the only options open to XP) will not allow me to get on facebook due to certificate errors, so that's out of the question entirely.

Firefox 36.0.1 on Win XP, service pack 3 (2003).

Really, really need help with this if anyone can spare 5 mins. My work requires me to keep blogs and facebook pages updated. This is no longer possible.

I can't believe it was that, I was running it for Windows NT. Not sure how it happened. ...I think I may have done that to solve another problem recently. Massive doh! ...And a million thanks for the help.
