I have addressed this issue with you before, when it was just Shockwave crashing frequently. Now it's not just Shockwave, but also the presence of multiple video ads make Firefox freeze to the point where I have to restart my laptop. It is a current model PC with no viruses. These crashing problems ONLY happen with Firefox (I have the current version). NOT with Explorer or Chrome, JUST FIREFOX. When are you guys going to get off your butts and address this problem? This has been going on for MONTHS with no fix in sight! I am VERY TIRED of having my sessions get screwed up when I'm doing something important. PLEASE FIX THIS PERSISTENT PROBLEM, AND DON'T WIMP OUT AND BLAME MY LAPTOP FOR YOUR SOFTWARE'S SHORTCOMINGS!

Hello,

If the problem appears with video ads, have you tried using adblocking extensions such as Adblock Plus? For more information on blocking pop-ups, please see the article Pop-up blocker settings, exceptions and troubleshooting.

If the video ads are Flash-based, this probably has less to do with Firefox than it is the Flash plugin. If you don't want to use extensions to block them, you can consider setting your Flash plugin settings to "Always ask to activate":

  • Tools (or New Fx Menu) > Add-ons > Plugins

Whenever a site wants to load Flash, it will prompt you whether to allow the plugin for the site. You can also edit your plugin permissions on the (popup) site by going to Tools > Page Info, or clicking on the padlock or globe icon on the left side of your address bar, and clicking the "More Information" Button. In the dialog box that pops up, click on the Permissions tab to view what resources the page is allowed to use on your computer.
