Firefox latest beta 25 keeps downloading 0byte files on OS X
Several times a day I run into the problem that when downloading a file with either FF 24 stable or FF 25 latest beta I receive the correct filename in my downloads folder but with 0bytes on OS X 10.8.5.
Not sure what to do about it. Troubleshooting info can't be attached since I'm reporting via WebKit. Firefox 25 doesn't allow me to click the "ask this" button.

Is there any anti-virus software running on your computer that might be causing this?

Hi cor-el. The second link was dead. Not sure what to do with that. No anti-virus software here.
Wow that KB article is pretty extensive. Could use a clean up I guess. I'll try chancing the download folder loaction although I doubt that will help.
That is not a link, but the name of a pref that you can inspect and possibly modify on the about:config page.
You can read in the first link about the function of this pref.

Since I just ran into this yet again, I played with some of the much too many suggestions:
- changing download folder > does not resolve this, all that happens is, I now have 0byte files in a different location
- clear download history > does not help
- no download manager plugins installed here
- disabled all plugins and retried > no improvement
- switch browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone in about:config to false > no success
- switch browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone in about:config to true > no success
Now what?
Restarted FF and nwo it works. This is very odd behavior. If downloads don't work in a browser this is a serious issue.
Similar bug has been reported (and never fixed) on windows in 2009. Obviously this has been a problem for many years. I wish Mozilla would have a closer look and find a solution.
That is a bug on Windows and it looks quite likely that security (anti-virus) software or other Windows security measures are involved in this case.
You are right and it has been closed by now.

Same problem was tormenting me for a long time. I had been using Free Video Downloader addon. Then I changed to Freemake Video Downloader. Now, the downloads are smooth and perfect. It looks FVD is the culprit.
