How do I rename unsorted bookmarks folder. Firefox 16.0.2 on MAC OS 10.75. When I imported them from Safari, they all ended up here.

I am not able to edit or delete the name of the "unsorted bookmarks folder" I want to rename it. All my bookmarks from safari ended up here when I installed firefox and allowed it to import bookmarks.

You can't remove one of the three bookmarks folders at the root level (Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmarks Menu, Unsorted Bookmarks).
You can only use Cut and Paste to move them to a folder in the Bookmarks Menu folder or move them otherwise, but cut and paste is usuaaly the best way to handle a larger amount of bookmarks.
