Folder counts are wildly off
Mostly the Trash and Drafts folders shown very large, incorrect numbers, in the hundred. Even if I mark as the folder read or empty the folder. Numbers don't change, just keep growing. Any ideas? I've tried some suggfestions from the internet but none work

What suggestions have you tried?
I suspect the folder indexes are corrupt. To Repair them, right-click on the folder name and choose "Properties" from the pop-up context menu, then "Repair folder." Follow this with by Compacting the folder (choose "Compact Folder" from the same context menu.)
- If this is an IMAP account, a slightly more brute-force way of accomplishing a similar result: from the account name in the Folders List, right-click and choose "Subscribe". You will be presented with a list of all your IMAP folders. Deselect the problem folders from the list and click "OK". The folders will disappear from your folders list. Now, go back to Subscribe and re-enable them. The folders will reappear and download all their messages again and hopefully the counts will be correct..
The tried the first suggestion numerous times over the weekend but it never worked and it did not work now. The second suggestion is not to clear to me but I think I got it and did what it said to do but when I deselect Trash and then the check mark goes off, i press ok and the screen closes fully. When I go back to look the problem is still there,
What suggestions have you tried? I'd hate to keep making suggestions that you've already rejected.
Maybe you don't have the "Show Total Message Count" option turned on, in which case only the unread count will show. To do so:
- Enable the Folder Pane Header is visible. See menu option <View | Folders | Folder Pane Header>
- Click the Folder Pane Header's three-dot icon and from the pop-up context menu select the "Show Total Message Count" option.
