Local mail is twice the size as pop mail
For years I had an pop account in my Thunderbird, next to my Imap account. Both live happily next to each other. Today I moved all the mails from my pop account (which was no long active, nor was it connected to a server) to my local folders. I found out that all of my folder were suddenly twice the size. Compressing didn't do a thing. Why is this?

What is compressing? Thunderbird has a compact method that cleans up the storage files and often that results in a space saving, but it does not nor is it intended to compress anything.
I mean compacting.
