after the last firefox update i lost all my passwords and log in details and I cannot get firefox to save passwords and log in info not matter how hard i search for the answers the last update was a disaster

The last update wasn't a problem for me nor any other over 20 years so it is likely not something that can be sorted in the way you put it.

Have you tried checking your profiles via about:profiles in the URL bar.

Apart from going back a step . .

Do you still have the old passwords i.e. is it just new ones that are not accepted?
